Meet the Intern
Derek Wu (he/him/his) is a graduate student in the Masters of Student Affairs Program at UCLA. He earned his B.A in Asian American Studies at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) where he also worked in sexual violence prevention at the UCR CARE Program. In addition to working at the UCLA CARE Program as a Graduate Student Intern, Derek is also an Assistant Resident Director at UCLA Residential Life. As a Graduate Student Intern, Derek assists with sexual violence prevention programming around topics such as consent, healthy relationships and intimate partner violence. Derek is primarily interested in learning about interconnected systems of oppression in higher education as well as ways in which he can support students of color and student with marginalized identities in his student affairs practice.
In his free time, Derek takes time out of his day to take care of his plants as well as go on walks with his dog, Pillow
