Prevention Education Advocate
Lauren is a proud transfer Bruin and UCLA alumna whose work centers on gender-based violence prevention, survivor advocacy, and institutional accountability in higher education. After beginning her academic journey at San Diego Mesa College, she transferred to UCLA, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications. She later earned a Master of Education in Higher Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she also completed coursework at Harvard Law School focused on Title IX, gender-based violence, and the law. Her doctoral dissertation in UCLA’s Educational Leadership Program, Transfer Survivors, examines the experiences of community college transfer students who have survived gender-based violence and explores how institutions can better support their safety, healing, and academic success following harm. A longtime educator, she has served in multiple roles supporting student development and campus safety at UCLA. Outside of her professional work, she volunteers as a Violence Prevention Specialist with Peace Over Violence and enjoys making music, baking, watching rom-coms, and spending time with loved ones. As a practitioner-scholar and educator, she believes deeply in the power of primary prevention and education to shift culture and build safer, more equitable learning environments.
